Supreme Court Victory
Secured a landmark victory in 2022 against the Inspector General of Police for unlawfully restricting vehicular movement during elections—a ruling that has since influenced electoral governance.
Data Protection Law
Hired as National Legal Expert by UNDP-SL to draft Sierra Leone's Data Protection Policy, Law and Regulation (Oct. 2021 – April 2022).
Freedom Hub Co-Founder
Co-founded Freedom Hub in 2020, a think tank advancing economic and social justice through litigation, research, and policy advocacy.
Business & Human Rights Policy
Contracted as Consultant for UNDP SL to author the National Policy on Business and Human Rights for the Human Rights Commission (Jan. 2023).
Anti-Corruption Strategy
Appointed by the President of Sierra Leone as a legal consultant in the Formulation of Sierra Leone's Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2019-2023.
NGO Policy Framework
Served as Consultant Draftsman for Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in drafting Sierra Leone's NGO Policy Framework (2022).
About Augustine
Augustine Sorie-Sengbe Marrah is a leading lawyer and pro-democracy activist in Sierra Leone. Graduating at the top of his class from Sierra Leone Law School in 2009, he has over sixteen years of legal practice.
In 2010, he earned a master's degree in human rights and democratisation in Africa from the University of Pretoria's Centre for Human Rights, after which he spent seven years at Yada Williams and Associates, one of Sierra Leone's leading law firms.
Over the past decade, Augustine has gained recognition as a leading public interest litigator, frequently challenging government actions or policies deemed detrimental to good governance.
